Jahdea Kedeche

I grew up in a rural community in Jamaica, surrounded by the richness of nature but limited by infrastructure and resources. Resilience was not something I learned later in life—it was my everyday reality.

I was taught that education would be my pathway to upward mobility, so I pursued it with determination. I earned two degrees, but somewhere along the way, I realized I had achieved the credentials without finding the peace I was searching for.

I earned those accomplishments while living in survival mode—navigating emotional stress, financial pressure, and the constant demand to keep moving forward. Eventually, my body began to tell the story my mind had been carrying. The tension, the exhaustion, and the physical manifestations of stress became impossible to ignore.

I had achieved what I was told would create stability, but I had not yet learned how to feel safe, grounded, and whole.

My journey continued when I immigrated to the United States during the pandemic. Starting over in a new country meant rebuilding my life from the beginning—working multiple jobs, navigating identity shifts, and finding belonging in unfamiliar spaces.

It was during this transition that I deepened my relationship with yoga—not for performance, perfection, or appearance, but for healing.

Yoga became a way to return to my body. A way to listen. A way to reconnect with myself beyond what I could accomplish.

I am still on this journey. I have not “arrived.” I still navigate the complexities of healing, stability, and becoming.

And that is why ResYes exists.

Because rest, resilience, and self-trust are not destinations we reach—they are practices we return to.

I'm not writing this from the other side of healing.
